Udinese vs Atalanta

Bluenergy Stadium sets the stage for a handsomely-looking Serie A showdown between Udinese and Atalanta.

Udinese failed to find a net in a goalless draw against 10-man Hellas Verona last weekend but still extended their unbeaten league run to three matches (W1, D2). Kosta Runjaic’s side could make it four undefeated Serie A games in a row for the first time since the opening four rounds of the campaign. However, a four-game winless run at the Bluenergy Stadium (D1, L3) doesn’t bode well for Udinese’s bid to halt a disastrous 14-game winless top-flight streak against Atalanta (D5, L9). The hosts’ defensive woes have recently come to the fore, as they conceded nine times in their last four home league outings. That’s an ominous sign ahead of Atalanta’s visit, especially considering they lost both top-flight H2Hs in 2024 by an aggregate score of 4-1.

Indeed, Atalanta came from behind to beat Udinese 2-1 in November’s reverse fixture and are now one game away from equaling the club’s longest-ever unbeaten run against specific opposition in the top flight. That triumph also forms part of Atalanta’s scintillating 13-game unbeaten streak in Serie A (W11, D2). Another win/draw would see ‘La Dea’ go 14 consecutive top-flight games without losing for only the third time in club history. While a 2-1 defeat to Inter Milan in their Supercoppa Italiana semi-final tie spells trouble, Gian Piero Gasperini’s men haven’t lost any of their last seven league outings on the road (W5, D2). It’s worth noting that four of their five wins in that sequence came ‘to nil.’
