Spain vs Colombia

Spain and Colombia are set to trade tackles in a mouth-watering friendly between the two in-form sides at the London Stadium.

Spain’s build-up to Euro 2024 kicks off against a Colombia side they’ve not lost to across their three previous H2Hs (W1, D2), increasing the likelihood of extending an eye-catching eight-game winning run in international action. The winners of the most recent UEFA Nations League have gone from strength to strength under new manager Luis de la Fuente, whose relatively inexperienced squad includes the likes of prodigious teenagers Lamine Yamal (16) and Pau Cubarsí (17). Seeking a fifth successive friendly win, La Furia Roja will take the field in a buoyant mood after going unbeaten in their last 19 non-competitive fixtures (W11, D8).

On the other hand, Colombia’s high-flying run of 19 unbeaten internationals (W14, D5) sets them up nicely for this high-profile match-up. With one eye on the upcoming 2024 Copa América in the United States, it’s imperative for Los Cafeteros to stay on the upward trajectory after beating none other than Brazil and Germany across their last nine outings. But Colombia’s triumphs under Nestor Lorenzo have mostly lacked conviction, with seven of their eight wins since the start of 2023 yielding a single-goal margin. Unbeaten since taking charge of the national team in July 2022 (W11, D5), Lorenzo will be out to post a sixth straight friendly win, with three of his last five such victories coming ‘to nil.’
