Newcastle United vs Bromley

High-flying Newcastle United will seek progression into the FA Cup round four when they take on League Two outfit Bromley at St James’ Park.

Newcastle United’s pursuit of their second appearance in the EFL Cup final in three years is firmly on track after a 2-0 win at Arsenal in the first leg of their semi-final tie during midweek. Meanwhile, the Magpies haven’t featured in the FA Cup final since 1998/99, while their last title in this competition dates back to the mid-1950s. They’re odds to reach round four at the expense of fourth-tier Bromley, especially after piecing together a seven-game winning streak in all competitions. Remarkably, six of those seven victories yielded multi-goal margins, highlighting the potential for an emphatic scoreline. You’d expect nothing less from Eddie Howe’s free-firing squad that’s scored 3+ goals in their last four home outings, winning three of them (D1).

In the meantime, lower-league Bromley have blown hot and cold at the start of 2025 (W1, L1), with each league result (win/loss) yielding a three-goal margin. An embarrassing 4-1 defeat at Crewe in the build-up to this trip knocked Bromley down from an impressive 11-game unbeaten streak in all competitions (W7, D4), which featured a 3-1 away win over Solihull Moor in the previous FA Cup round. That fiasco also spelled the end of their four-match winning run away from home, albeit marking a fifth of their last seven road trips to produce over 2.5 goals. Therefore, it stands to reason the Ravens’ first-ever meeting with Newcastle will be a high-scoring event.
