Millwall vs Leicester City

High-flying Leicester City head to The Den to encounter fellow Championship opposition Millwall in the FA Cup third round.

Optimism is at an all-time high in the Millwall camp following an eye-catching three-game winning Championship streak ‘to nil,’ bookended by a 1-0  victory at Bristol City in their curtain-raising 2024 fixture. Unbeaten in their last five matches (W3, D2) after back-to-back defeats in early December, the ‘Lions’ will be out to erase the memory of a 3-2 loss at the King Power Stadium last month and defy an underwhelming run of four defeats in their five most recent clashes against Leicester (W1). The Den is seemingly a perfect setting, considering Joe Edwards’ men haven’t lost any of their last four home games (W2, D2) despite scoring precisely once on three occasions.

In the meantime, Leicester City consolidated their place at the top of the Championship table with a commanding 4-1 home triumph against Huddersfield Town at the start of 2023. Enzo Maresca’s men are undefeated in their last ten matches against fellow Championship rivals (W8, D2), with five of their eight wins in this sequence yielding multi-goal margins. It’s also worth noting that the free-scoring ‘Foxes’ have netted 3+ goals in five of their last seven games, highlighting the potential for another enthralling contest. But entertainment has been at a premium in Leicester’s recent visits to Millwall, with three of the last four producing under 2.5 goals.
