Kedah United vs Visakha

Battle for a top place in AFC Cup Group G is heating up as Kedah United take on Visakha at the Stadion Kapten I Wayan Dipta.

Kedah United have put an underwhelming 2-0 Matchday 1 defeat at Bali United firmly behind them with a thumping 4-1 home triumph over Kaya last time out. With six of Kedah’s seven Group G goals scored/conceded to date coming beyond halftime, second-half action could be bursting at the seams. Four of their six previous competitive home matches have featured 4+ overall goals, highlighting the potential for another high-scoring affair. However, the ‘Kris’ wouldn’t mind a cagey contest as long as it allows them to post back-to-back competitive wins for the first time since March/April. The aforementioned triumph over Kaya halted Kedah’s abysmal five-match winless streak across all competitions (D2, L3).

On the other hand, Visakha head into proceedings sitting at the top of Group G after winning both opening group fixtures. Despite falling behind within 30 minutes in both Group matches, they have come out on top each time, scoring seven goals while conceding three in return. The ‘Blue Horse’ tend to turn on a ‘beast mode’ in the second half, recording 71% of their AFC Cup goals beyond halftime (5/7). Notably, the Cambodian side haven’t lost any of their last 15 competitive away games since a 2-0 defeat to domestic rivals Tiffy Army in October 2020 (W11, D4). They’ve also bagged 2+ goals on three of their four most recent travels.
