Fehervar vs Galatasaray

PROfertil ARENA in Austria plays host to the first-ever meeting between Hungarian side Fehervar and Turkish giants Galatasaray.

MOL Fehervar’s pre-season is already up and running, yet consistency has not been their strong suit this summer. The Hungarians have alternated between victories (2) and defeat across their three off-season fixtures. Since two of those matches (won/lost) came by 3+ goals ‘to nil,’ this showdown could go either way, accompanied by a ‘blowout’ theme. But it’s worth mentioning that Fehervar’s solitary reverse this summer arrived at the hands of Galatasaray’s arch-rivals, Fenerbahce (0-3). Additionally, Fenerbahce remain the only side to have kept Michael Boris’ men at bay since mid-March, with Fehervar finding the back of the net in 11 of their last 12 outings.

In the meantime, Galatasaray’s off-season fixtures were off to a sluggish start as they turned a 1-0 halftime lead into a 2-1 defeat to Sturm Graz in their inaugural summer friendly. That reverse forms part of Galatasaray’s underwhelming five-game form (W1, D2, L2), which includes one clean sheet and eight goals conceded, at an average of 1.6 per match. If that’s not enough for concern, Okan Buruk’s lads have mustered just one victory across their last eight outings on hostile turf (D3, L4), failing to get on the scoresheet in half of them. However, the Turks notably kept a clean sheet on all four continental travels last season, three of which featured an identical 0-0 scoreline.
