Brentford vs Burnley

Brentford and Burnley are set to trade tackles at the Brentford Community Stadium in a potentially season-defining fixture for these Premier League relegation fighters.

Brentford’s disastrous run of eight Premier League matches without a win (D1, L7) came to a halt last weekend as they sailed to a comprehensive 3-1 triumph away to rock-bottom Norwich City. But Brentford’s relegation fears are still very much alive, with 18th-placed Burnley only six points behind with two games in hand. Therefore, a victory here is a must for the ‘Bees,’ who have suffered three defeats in their last four home league H2Hs (D1), most recently in January 2016. Signs of attacking improvement were evident at Carrow Road last time out as Thomas Frank’s men scored as many goals against Norwich (3) as they had in their previous seven Premier League outings combined. However, a dismal return of one clean sheet from their last 15 top-flight fixtures requires immediate reparation.

Meanwhile, Burnley’s hopes of securing Premier League survival come May took another hit last weekend as they lost 4-0 at home against Chelsea, taking their winless league streak to three games (D1, L2). Particularly vulnerable after the break, Sean Dyche’s men have shipped their last six Premier League goals beyond half-time. On the bright side, the ‘Clarets’ have enjoyed their recent travels to London, having gone unbeaten in their last four Premier League matches in the country’s capital (W1, D3). Adding to Burnley’s confidence, they are unbeaten in each of their previous six league encounters against Brentford (W4, D2), while they’ve not lost any of their last three away league fixtures (W1, D2).  Notably, they conceded just once across those three matches.
