Lazio vs Cagliari

Stadio Olimpico is the venue as high-flying Lazio and out-of-sorts Cagliari go head-to-head in a lopsided Serie A encounter.

Lazio moved within a six-point distance of Serie A leaders Napoli with an overwhelming 5-1 win at Como last week, making it three consecutive triumphs in all competitions by at least a two-goal margin. Indeed, Marco Baroni’s men have gone from strength to strength this season, racking up seven victories across their last eight competitive outings (L1). Particularly impressive at home, ‘I Biancocelesti’ have picked up Serie A’s second-high 13 home points this term (W4, D1). The only blemish on this near-flawless record was a 2-2 draw against AC Milan in September, yet they netted 2+ in that match, as they’ve done in all six competitive matches at the Stadio Olimpico in 2024/25 (W5, D1).

On the other hand, Cagliari’s disappointing start to the season hit a new low last week as Bologna condemned them to a second straight 2-0 league defeat following a 3-2 home win against Torino in mid-October. Hitting the road spells trouble for the Sardinians, considering they’ve claimed just one win on four Serie A travels this season (D1, L2), netting under 1.5 goals on three occasions. That hardly bodes well as the visitors bid to post their first away victory against Lazio in Serie A since 2009. Since that success, it’s mostly been doom and gloom for them, with Cagliari losing 11 of their 12 top-flight visits to the Olimpico (D1), including a narrow 1-0 defeat last season.
