Granada vs Getafe

Granada and Getafe are set to trade tackles at the Estadio Ciudad de Puertollano in an all-La Liga summer friendly.

Granada strung together three consecutive victories by a two-goal margin toward the tail end of the 2022/23 Segunda Division campaign to secure La Liga promotion as La Liga 2 champions. Three points clear of closest followers Las Palmas, ‘Los Nazaries’ sealed a swift top-flight return despite averaging a meager 1.3 goals per league game. But barring a narrow 1-0 win over lowe-league Sanluqueno, Paco Lopez’s lads have been on a scoring spree this summer, bagging 4.33 goals per match across their three remaining friendly victories! Moreover, their defensive resilience remains one of the team’s most prominent features, with Granada racking up three consecutive clean sheets in the build-up to this encounter.

On the other hand, Getafe survived another relegation drama, finishing 15th in La Liga last term, only two points clear of 18th-placed Valladolid. Despite only three sides scoring fewer goals than ‘El Geta’ (34) in the 2022/23 La Liga campaign, the Madrid-based club made sure to compete in Spain’s elite division next season. A 3-0 thumping of Bradford City in their opening summer friendly offered Getafe some hope they could be on the verge of overcoming their scoring problems. However, Jose Bordalas’ men have quickly re-established old habits. They have netted under 1.5 goals in two of their last three exhibition matches (W2, L1), most recently succumbing to a 1-0 loss to Ligue 1 side Reims.
