Arsenal vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Emirates Stadium is the venue as Arsenal and Wolverhampton Wanderers go head-to-head in the final round of the 2022/23 Premier League season.

It’s been a massively disappointing season for Arsenal. Despite securing a first top-four finish since 2015/16, the ‘Gunners’ lost an enthralling title race to Manchester City, courtesy of last weekend’s 1-0 loss at Nottingham Forest. Mikel Arteta’s men had spent a great chunk of the season at the summit, but an underwhelming run of two wins from their last eight league outings (D3, L3) tipped the scales in Man City’s favor. Back to the Emirates Stadium, where they’ve only won one of their five most recent top-flight meetings with Wolves (D3, L1), Arsenal are looking to maintain an eye-catching streak of winning their final league game in 11 consecutive seasons. Worryingly, though, they’ve lost their last two Premier League matches without scoring.

On the other hand, Wolverhampton conceded a last-gasp equalizer in last weekend’s 1-1 home draw against Everton, making it back-to-back league games without winning (D1, L1). Consistency has been a crucial problem for the ‘Wanderers,’ as each of their last seven Premier League fixtures has alternated between different outcomes (W3, D1, L3). That doesn’t bode well for JulenLopetegui’s bid to arrest Wolves’ underwhelming three-game losing run against Arsenal in the top-flight. Neither does the fact the visitors have won none of their last seven league outings on hostile turf (D2, L5), netting a measly average of 0.57 goals per game in that sequence.
