Juventus vs Monza

Juventus and Monza are set to battle it out for a place in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals at the Allianz Stadium.

Juventus’ outrageous run of eight consecutive Serie A victories without conceding ended abruptly at Napoli last weekend, with Luciano Spalletti’s side thrashing the record-time Italian champions 5-1! Left to lick their wounds after being crashed out of the Scudetto race in disturbing fashion, ‘I Bianconeri’ embark on a redemption challenge this midweek. While the odds fancy their progression into the quarter-finals, Juventus cannot take anything for granted as they found themselves on the receiving end of a 1-0 scoreline in their maiden Serie A meeting with Monza earlier in the season. However, Massimiliano Allegri’s men have been a force to be reckoned with in Turin of late, racking up six wins in their last seven competitive home games (L1).

In the meantime, after opening the new calendar year with back-to-back scoring draws against Fiorentina and Inter Milan, Monza edged fellow promoted rivals Cremonese 3-2 at the weekend to solidify their mid-table position in Serie A. Raffaele Palladino’s side fought their way into this tie by dispatching Udinese 3-2 in a topsy-turvy affair in the previous Coppa Italia round. However, they have since lost their winning touch on the road, picking up just one triumph in four subsequent away matches (D1, L2), casting doubt on their capacity to upset the odds in Turin. Adding to this sentiment, they’ve failed to keep a clen sheet on their last six domestic travels.
