PSG vs Angers

Paris Saint-Germain will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on the Ligue 1 surprise package Angers at the Parc des Princes.

PSG will be looking to pick themselves up from an embarrassing 2-0 away defeat to Rennes last time out, a match that saw them fail to produce a single shot on target! Even though they will be without standout players Lionel Messi and Neymar, ‘Les Parisiens’ will be odds-on favorites to post their ninth win in ten Ligue 1 fixtures this season (W8, L1) and at least maintain a comfortable six-point lead at the summit. Given PSG’s intimidating firepower up top, it comes as no surprise that they’ve netted 2+ goals in all four Ligue 1 outings at home, managing an average of 3.00 per match. Mauricio Pochettino’s men are unbeaten in 21 consecutive top-flight meetings with Angers (W14, D7), last losing to this opposition in Ligue 1 in January 1975.

On the other hand, since succumbing to a humiliating 4-1 home defeat to Nantes in mid-September, the visitors have gone unbeaten in their subsequent three Ligue 1 matches (W1, D2). A thoroughly impressive start to the season from Angers has seen them lose just one of their nine league fixtures so far (W4, D4, L1), with that lone failure coming on home soil. However, despite running unbeaten in all four Ligue 1 games away from home this term, they have drawn their last three top-flight trips since beating Strasbourg 2-0 in their first Ligue 1 travel of the season. Worryingly, though, that victory remains one of their two victories across their last 14 away league matches (D6, L6), highlighting their away woes.
