Cadiz vs Barcelona 06/12/20

Barcelona head to the Estadio Ramón de Carranza to meet Cadiz, looking to pick up the three points and leapfrog their hosts in the La Liga table.

Remarkably, despite failing to win any of their last three La Liga matches (D1, L2), the hosts hold a one-point lead over Barcelona ahead of the kick-off. For Cadiz, goals have been in short supply this season, as evidenced by the fact they have netted a league fourth-low nine goals, scoring twice per game in just two of 11 La Liga outings so far. Curiously, only two of those nine goals scored have come at home, with each strike arriving in the 48th minute. It’s, therefore, not strange that four of their five home La Liga games have featured under 2.5 total goals. Cadiz’s hopes of performing a miracle here will hinge on whether or not ‘El Submarino Amarillo’ can avoid conceding first, as they’ve failed to win any of their five league fixtures in which they shipped the opener (D2, L3).

Meanwhile, the Catalan giants seem to have started picking up momentum as they take the field after winning three consecutive matches in all competitions via at least three-goal margins. The ‘clean-sheet’ theme remains significant in the context of Barcelona’s away results this season, as each of their five competitive wins/losses on the road has seen the victor shut out the loser. Given Barcelona’s footballing stature, it may come as some surprise that Ronald Koeman’s men have failed to win any of their last three away La Liga games, scoring just once across those road trips. Three of Barca’s four away league goals scored this season have come in the second half. Although the ‘Blaugrana’ have won each of their three previous top-flight H2Hs away from home, it’s worth noting that the last such contest dates back to December 2005.
